Barcellona P.G., 12 September 2023 – The “A Rocca” Artistic and Cultural Association, along with the E. Fermi Technical, Economic, and Technological Institute, announced an extraordinary event that combined art, history, and environmental awareness: the inauguration of a street art work inside the school building inspired by the work of Mariano Pietrini. This initiative, was conceived within the framework of the Erasmus+ “Green Change” project (pr. n° 2021-2-ES02-KA210-YOU-000047987), in which the A Rocca Association participated together with the partners REACTVLC (Spain) and Ecocenter Alapítvány (Hungary), aimed to raise awareness among young people and the school community on environmental and sustainability issues through artistic expression.
The artwork was created by street artist NessuNettuno, whose talent and commitment helped make the school environment more lively and engaging. The main objective was to use art as a means to spread positive messages on environmental protection and the importance of beauty education, taking inspiration from the works and themes of the artist Mariano Pietrini.
An aspect that made this event even more special was the presence of a work by Mariano Pietrini which was at the center of the street art work. This sculpture, entrusted by the Pietrini family and permanently displayed at the Fermi Institute, was a unique opportunity to enrich the educational environment and stimulate the creativity of students.
Following the inauguration of the art space, an engaging debate was held on the topic of climate change and environmental problems.
The school community of the “Enrico Fermi” Technical Institute joyfully welcomed the proposal of the “A Rocca” association. “We were honored – declared Principal Antonietta Amoroso – that the Association and the Pietrini family had chosen our Institute for this initiative, which was in full harmony with our educational vision. The values of beauty, creativity, and knowledge and the artistic-cultural heritage of our territory were the basis of every teaching activity that took place in the various courses of our institute. Just as we shared the European perspective in which the street art work fit. In fact, the Erasmus project also represented for us an indispensable training resource since, through mobility abroad, cultural exchanges, and all the project activities of which they were protagonists, our students met and compared themselves with their peers and recognized the importance of the values of culture and languages in a context inspired by respect, friendship, and peace. Finally, we were honored that the sculpture by Mariano Pietrini was installed in the headquarters in Via Pitagora. All those who passed through that entrance had the pleasure of being able to enjoy the beauty and emotions delivered to us by a work conceived and created by the Barcelona artist, who had also been a teacher of mathematics at the “Fermi” for many years, still today remembered by everyone and by me personally for his empathetic closeness to young people and for his openness to innovation and creative research.”
The event was open to all. “We believed that artistic-cultural initiatives of this kind would contribute significantly to enriching the school environment while simultaneously educating about beauty.” (Nino Pietrini, President of the Ass. A Rocca”.) We would like to thank the De Gaetano company for its support in the project in providing the scaffolding and building the base for the sculpture.
